After the death of her daughter, a taxidermist begins killing, believing she can grant her victims eternal life. A macabre horror with elements of a thriller about grief and religious obsession.

Elisa used to be a nurse. Now she makes a living stuffing animals, and she prides herself on her ability to make every corpse look almost alive. She supports herself and her daughter, who has been in a coma for years. When the girl dies, deeply religious Elisa turns her back on God and starts seeing herself as His earthly extension. She becomes convinced that taxidermy can grant the dead eternal life. Driven by this twisted religious obsession, she embarks on a killing spree. She also kidnaps her teenage neighbor and forces her to take the place of her dead daughter. Can anyone stop this deranged taxidermist?

“The Taxidermist” blends horror and thriller into a macabre, at times downright nasty tale of grief, a crisis of faith, and an obsession with immortality. This is bleak horror that has no qualms about wallowing in the grotesque or confronting the audience with genuinely disturbing imagery. But it is not interested in shock value alone, even if it certainly delivers plenty of it. At its core, “The Taxidermist” is the story of a woman who, consumed by grief, keeps crossing one line after another. And she does it with a smile on her face.

Directed by Paulo Nascimento, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Brittnay Johnston, Rob Razzetto, and Flavio de Castro Barboza. Guenia Lemos stars as Elisa, with Sienna Belle as her daughter Alice. The cast also features Ann-Kathryne Mills and Ezequiel Rodríguez. Renato Falcão is behind the camera, with the score composed by Pablo Fuu.
