DEATHGASM 2: GOREMAGEDDON

“Deathgasm 2” – More Blood, More Metal, More Macabre Fun

Ten years ago, Brodie stopped the heavy metal apocalypse and thought his life was finally about to take off. Instead, he’s stuck on welfare, dumped by his girlfriend Medina, still can’t play guitar properly, and keeps waiting for his questionable metal career to take off.

One day, he wakes up in a puddle of his own vomit, pisses off the welfare officer, and the dream of playing the world’s metal stages feels further away than ever. So what does Brodie decide to do? Exactly what any metalhead at rock bottom would: using a demonic grimoire—channelling his inner Ash Williams—he resurrects his dead buddies (from the first “Deathgasm”) to help him win a major metal festival. And if he can get the girl back in the process, all the better.

But there’s a catch: Zakk and Dion might be alive again, but they’re literally falling apart—losing pieces of themselves all over New Zealand. And that’s still not the worst of it. The real challenge is stopping them from eating random bystanders.

“Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon” is the long-awaited return of the beloved, blood-soaked, outrageously funny New Zealand splatter-comedy. This time, the blood sprays higher, the guts fly farther, mutilated penises roll across the floor, and even the sweet little dog isn’t safe. It’s all drenched in thick, deliciously dark humor, so even the most grotesque scenes go down easy.

Like its predecessor, “Deathgasm 2” is both a love letter to metal culture and horror cinema, a story about an unwilling hero, and a sly satire of modern life.

The score is composed by Matthew Kiichi Heafy, frontman of the band Trivium, who even makes a cameo, only to be gloriously torn to shreds. Milo Cawthorne returns as Brodie—once a star of “Power Rangers RPM,” now known for bold, offbeat projects like “Guns Akimbo” and “Blood Punch.” Also stealing every scene is Daniel Cresswell as pudgy Giles, parading around in filthy underwear, one-handed but equipped with an impressive arsenal of interchangeable prosthetic attachments.

“Deathgasm 2” is a disarming, blood-drenched, grotesque, and utterly insane ride. And once you get in the car with Brodie and the boys, you won’t want to get out.
