Join us for an exclusive masterclass with Bartosz M. Kowalski — one of the most distinctive and uncompromising voices in contemporary Polish cinema.
This session is designed for young filmmakers, aspiring screenwriters, film students, and anyone eager to learn how to turn a raw idea into a fully realized film — from the very first spark of inspiration to the premiere. The director will talk about his creative process, writing methods, film preparation, and on-set work.
A graduate of film schools in Paris and Los Angeles. He is the author of the award-winning HBO documentaries “A Dream in the Making” and “Unstoppables”. Winner of the 2014 Script Pro Screenwriting Competition, nominated for the Paszport Polityki Award and the Polish Directors’ Guild Award. His feature debut, the social drama “Playground”, premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and received awards at film festivals in Gdynia, Warsaw, Koszalin, London and Melbourne. He has spent the last few years collaborating with Netflix, for whom he directed the horror films “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight” 1&2 and “Hellhole”.
His fantasy drama, “Night Silence”, premiered in the autumn at one of the world’s foremost genre film festivals – the Sitges Film Festival in Spain. His newest film, “13 Days Till Summer”, won the Best Director Award in the main competition at Fantastic Fest in the United States – the most important genre film festival in the world.
