Harper has recently given birth to a baby girl. The child’s father is not in the picture. Hoping to recover from childbirth and support her mother, Harper travels to her childhood home in the American South. There, she must confront not only her demanding mother but also her own past traumas, unspoken resentments, and long-standing wounds. Something seems to lurk in the dark corners of the house—scratching in the walls, watching, waiting for Harper and especially for her daughter. Is it the ancient witch of local legend, always accompanied by crows? For Harper, the line between reality and hallucination begins to blur.

“The Beldham” is a heart-pounding blend of horror and psychological drama. It is capable of terrifying even seasoned horror fans while simultaneously stirring deep emotions. Director Angela Gulner—who also wrote the screenplay—deftly combines spine-chilling tension with a poignant meditation on fraught mother-daughter relationships, postpartum depression, and the process of healing from trauma.

This is not just a horror film for mothers—it is genre cinema for those who crave intellectual depth alongside sleepless nights. A sensitive, haunting work, superbly acted. The leading roles are played by SAG and Emmy-nominated (and twice awarded) Patricia Heaton, Katie Parker (known from Mike Flanagan’s works), and legendary actor Corbin Bernsen, famous for “The Dentist” and “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”.
