Paweł Borowski
Paweł Borowski graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. After his studies, he held several solo painting exhibitions, including at the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Zachęta National Gallery of Art.
During this time, he also began making short films. His latest short film, I Love You, was showcased at numerous international festivals, including Berlinale and Tribeca.
The next step in his career was feature films. His feature debut, Zero, participated in many national and international festivals (including Busan, São Paulo, Rotterdam, Washington, Munich, Milan, and Łagów), winning numerous awards and distinctions, including five Grand Prix.
In June 2019, his second, highly experimental film, I Am Lying Now, premiered, receiving favorable reviews from some critics and earning a few international awards and distinctions.
Fungi is his third feature film. So far, it has been part of the Official Selection at Fantastic Fest 2023, Fantaspoa 2024, Macabro 2024, and the Polish Feature Film Competition at Mastercard Off Camera 2024, where it received three nominations (Best Film, Best Actress for Maria Maj, and the Rising Star Award for Jędrzej Bigosiński).
Borowski is a member of the European Film Academy (EFA) and the Polish Film Academy.
