20th Anniversary of the Masterpiece “Pan’s Labyrinth” at Splat!FilmFest

Since its premiere, “Pan’s Labyrinth” has won 109 awards and received 115 nominations, bringing Guillermo del Toro international acclaim and cementing his position as one of the most important filmmakers working today.
In Poland, the film was honored with the Golden Frog for Guillermo Navarro’s cinematography at the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography CAMERIMAGE.
For Ivana Baquero, who played Ofelia, the film proved to be a breakthrough and launched her international career. A Goya Award winner for her screen debut, she later appeared in “The New Daughter” alongside Kevin Costner, the fantasy series “The Shannara Chronicles,” and numerous television productions, becoming one of the most recognizable Spanish actresses of her generation.
November marks the 20th anniversary of the film’s international premiere.
“Pan’s Labyrinth” was originally released in Polish theaters in March 2007 by Kino Świat, which is now bringing this exceptional film back to the big screen as part of the new STUDIOCANAL Classics series.
The film will return to Polish theaters in its new 4K restoration starting October 25, with its Polish premiere taking place at Splat!FilmFest.
Twelve-year-old Ofelia moves with her mother and stepfather to a house in the countryside. The estate is located near an old, ruined labyrinth, which quickly becomes the girl’s favorite place to explore.
Unable to cope with her loneliness and the brutality of the world around her, Ofelia escapes into an imaginary realm of her own. It is filled with fantastical creatures and mysterious places that offer her refuge whenever she can get away. This strange world is ruled by the mysterious Faun…
The 12th Splat!FilmFest will take place 22–31 October 2026 at Kinoteka in Warsaw. Selected titles will also travel to nine other cities across Poland as part of Splat!FilmFest On Tour, bringing this year’s edition of the festival to a total of ten cities.
