A new film by the director of “Psycho Goreman” and a worthy successor to “Ghoulies”

Conor is a loser and an office rat. No one knows how he ever got the sexy Kristina to be his girlfriend. His head is filled with constant presentations and the hypothetical promotion that his dodgy boss dangles over him. But Conor’s life is about to change as Kristina goes away for the weekend and he decides to call up a crew of trolls, fierce partygoers from another world. The leather-clad strays, beer and motorbike lovers barge into his house and carry out an intervention. Their aim? To turn Conor into a party king, a fearless booze head. By the way, they’ll destroy his life and carry him off to their fantasy land. But that’s a small price to pay for a fun time, isn’t it?

“Frankie Freako” is a film made in the best traditions of cult cinema. It refers to such B-movie hits as “Munchies”, “Ghoulies”, and “Critters”, you can hear some faint echoes of “American Psycho”, and it brings to mind “Drop Dead Fred”. This work should be watched with a pinch of salt. A play on convention was made cheaply but with a lot of heart. It’s as gross as the habits of the creatures that change Conor’s life. And quite macabre, but that is an advantage after all.

 The director of “Frankie Freako” is one of the brightest shining stars of B-grade cinema today. Steven Kostanski’s credits include “Leprechaun Returns”, “Psycho Goreman”, “Bio-Cop” and “Manborg”. He also directed one of the chapters of ‘V/H/S/94’. He is a make-up specialist, and in “Frankie Freako” this shows perfectly. The ugly guys that Conor must deal with look fantastic, they also move pretty well and each has their own personality. A terrible one, of course.
