22 – 31 X 2026 | Warszawa | Kinoteka

Splat!FilmFest ON TOUR: Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdynia, Katowice, Kraków, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, Wrocław

Winners of the 12th Splat!FilmFest Announced!

The 12th edition of Splat!FilmFest has come to an end, bringing ten days of cinematic madness, intense thrills, surprising discoveries, and encounters with films that defy easy categorization. This year, we showcased nearly 100 films from around the world – from uncompromising horror and thrillers to science fiction, black comedies, and the strangest corners of genre cinema.

As every year, there was plenty of cinematic competition too! The festival featured three separate competitions: the Feature Film Competition, the Short Film Competition with its Audience Award, and the Méliès Competition dedicated to European fantastic cinema.

Audience Awards – Feature Films

The Audience Awards are particularly special to us because they show just how differently people can experience cinema. What terrifies one person might make another laugh. A film that someone considers the most shocking experience of the festival might strike someone else as, above all, a brilliantly told story. And it’s precisely this diversity of emotions, interpretations, and cinematic tastes that makes the voting results so fascinating every year.

This year, audiences voted for their favourites in six categories.

Here are the winners:

Audience Award – Short Films

Short films have long held an important place in the Splat!FilmFest programme. They offer a space for filmmakers who can pack an original idea, powerful emotions, and cinematic imagination into just a few minutes. Sometimes that’s all it takes to tell a story that stays with you far longer than many feature films.

In the separate Short Film Competition, the winner was also chosen by the audience.

The Audience Award for Best Short Film went to:

European Méliès d’Argent Competition

The festival’s third independent competition is the Méliès Competition, dedicated to European fantastic cinema. Splat!FilmFest is a member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation, an international network of film festivals committed to promoting European genre cinema, supporting filmmakers, and discovering new talent.

This competition reminds us just how diverse and inventive European fantastic cinema can be, and how much can be achieved with an original vision, even with limited resources.

This year’s Méliès d’Argent Award went to:

Congratulations to all the winning filmmakers! We’re delighted to bring Polish audiences films that stir such powerful emotions and stay with viewers long after the credits roll.
