Kasper Kalle

Kasper Kalle – born in 1983 in a small town in Denmark, Kasper finished art studies at Funen Art Academy in 2012 before going on to the National Film School of Denmark from where he graduated as a director in 2015 with his graduation film “Darkest Moon”.
This unique and captivating period piece secured the Best Fiction award at the Danish short film awards (the Ekko Shortlist) with critics lauding Kasper as “Denmark’s new Carl Th. Dreyer,” praising not only the aesthetically distinctive visuals but also his ability to master period storytelling with significant themes such as the right to be human.
In 2018 Kasper directed a micro-budget experiment with the title “The Last Journey”. The film accessed a grant from the Danish Film Institute’s now-defunct test scheme “Skitsen”, which was created to allow directors to test and prepare themselves for the world of feature films. Due to its originality the film (a biopic about Danish King Christian IV set exclusively inside a horse carriage) was allowed release in a few small cinemas in Denmark and subsequently praised for its courage, ambition, and sumptuous production design, despite being crafted on a microbudget.
Once again, Kasper showcased his proficiency in period films, this time with a love story spanning decades yet confined to one location thereby underscoring his skill as a director who can extract the most from minimal resources.
